Wedding Photography FAQ

Answers to the questions couples ask most about booking, prices, photos and policies.

Booking & availability

Where are you based, and where do you photograph weddings?

I'm based in Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire. I photograph weddings across Hertfordshire and anywhere within 30 miles of the Hertfordshire border.

Do you travel outside Hertfordshire for weddings?

Yes. I photograph weddings anywhere within 30 miles of the Hertfordshire border, on every package: Micro, Half Day and Full Day. That covers all of Hertfordshire, London, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, plus parts of Essex, Cambridgeshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey, and places such as Cambridge, Oxford, Chelmsford, Milton Keynes, Reading, Bedford, Huntingdon and Windsor. Travel within this area is included in every package price.

What if our wedding is more than 30 miles from Hertfordshire?

Get in touch with your date and venue and I'll let you know if I can travel to you.

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, but get in touch even if your date is sooner.

How do we check if our date is free?

Send a message through the contact page or call 07356 203744. Include your date and venue, and I'll confirm availability and send your exact quote.

How do we secure our date?

A 25% retainer secures your date, and the balance is due one month before your wedding. If you'd rather spread the cost, an optional monthly payment plan is available.

Do you photograph small weddings and elopements?

Yes. The Micro package is two hours, with start and end times of your choice, and suits register office ceremonies, elopements and small celebrations anywhere within 30 miles of the Hertfordshire border. You can add up to four extra hours.

Is 2 hours enough time for wedding photos?

For a small wedding or elopement, yes. Two hours is enough to cover the ceremony, your family group photos and a short portrait session together. It isn't enough to tell the story of a full wedding day, from getting ready through to the speeches and first dance. For that, most couples need at least six hours, which is why my Half Day package is six hours and my Full Day has no time limit.

Pricing & packages

How much does wedding photography cost?

Packages are £600 for two hours (Micro), £1,400 for six hours (Half Day) and £1,895 for the whole day with no time limit (Full Day). Optional extras include a second shooter (£550), an album (£450) and a videographer (£850).

How much is a photographer for a wedding for 2 hours?

My Micro package is £600 for two hours of coverage, at start and end times you choose. It includes a pre-wedding consultation and a private online gallery with print rights, and travel within 30 miles of the Hertfordshire border.

How much is a wedding photographer for 4 hours?

£1,000: my two-hour Micro package (£600) plus two extra hours at £200 each. If you need six hours or more, my Half Day package (£1,400 for six hours) or Full Day package (£1,895, no time limit) gives better value.

What does "no time limit" mean on the Full Day package?

I stay from the start of your day to the end. There's no fixed number of hours and no extra-hour charges, so nobody needs to watch the clock.

Do you charge for travel?

No, not within 30 miles of Hertfordshire. Travel to any wedding within 30 miles of the Hertfordshire border is included in the price of every package: Micro, Half Day and Full Day.

Can we add extra hours?

Yes, at £200 an hour: up to 4 extra hours on Micro and up to 2 on Half Day. Full Day has no time limit, so extra hours aren't needed.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, if you'd like one. It's entirely optional: you can pay the balance in full before your wedding, or spread it over monthly payments after the 25% retainer, finishing before your wedding date. For example, Half Day is a £350 retainer and 24 payments of £43.75.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes. A second shooter can be added to any package for £550.

Can you also film our wedding?

Yes. A videographer can be added for £850, and a content creator for £450.

What does the content creator do?

A content creator captures candid, behind-the-scenes moments throughout your day and turns them into vertical videos ready to share on social media, with a fast turnaround. It can be added to any package for £450.

Do you offer engagement shoots?

Yes. An engagement shoot is £650, or £325 (50% off) when you book the Full Day package.

Photos & delivery

What is your photography style?

Natural. I stay out of the spotlight and capture real emotion as it happens, balanced with editorial-style portraits and any classic group photos you request. The timeline for your portraits is completely in your hands.

How long does it take to get wedding photos back?

Your full gallery is delivered within 6 to 8 weeks of your wedding, so you won't be waiting four months or more. Half Day and Full Day couples also see previews within 24 hours. Need them sooner? Add Express Photo Delivery and your full gallery arrives within 2 weeks.

How many photos will we receive?

There's no set limit. I take as many photos as I can throughout your day, and I don't cap the number of photos you receive.

How many photos will we get from a 3-hour wedding?

There's no set number. I don't cap how many photos I take or how many you receive, so the total depends on what happens during those three hours rather than on a limit in your package. A three-hour wedding with a ceremony, confetti, family groups and portraits naturally produces more photos than a quiet registry ceremony, and you receive every moment I capture that's worth keeping, edited and ready to download.

What happens if your camera fails?

Your photos are protected. I bring three camera bodies to every wedding, so if one fails I carry straight on with another, and I back up your photos to three separate hard drives.

How will we receive our photos?

In a private online gallery, where you can download your photos and share them with family and friends.

Can we print and share our photos?

Yes. Print rights are included, so you can print your photos and share them online.

Do you offer albums?

Yes. A wedding album of up to 35 pages is £450.

Contracts & policies

Will we have a contract?

Yes. Your booking is confirmed with a written contract setting out your package, price, payment dates and policies.

Is the retainer refundable?

No. The 25% retainer is non-refundable. It secures your date, so I don't take other bookings for that day.

What happens if we need to postpone?

Let me know your new date as soon as you can, and I'll do my best to photograph your wedding on that date.

What happens if we need to cancel?

If you cancel, the 25% retainer isn't refunded. If I ever have to cancel, I'll refund your retainer in full.

Are you insured?

Yes, I'm insured.
