Frequently Asked Questions

Do wedding photographers use a contract?

Yes, I use a contract for every booking. It protects both of us and makes sure everything is clearly agreed before your wedding day.

Why do wedding photographers need a contract?

A contract gives you peace of mind and sets out exactly what is included, what is expected, and what happens if plans change. It helps avoid confusion and keeps everything straightforward.

What does a wedding photography contract include?

My contract covers the details of your booking, including coverage type, payment terms, delivery, cancellation, and any agreed extras. It also confirms the responsibilities of both sides.

Do I need to sign a contract to book a wedding photographer?

Yes, a signed contract is required to secure your date. Your booking is only confirmed once the contract is signed and the 20% booking fee is paid.

Is the booking fee refundable?

The booking fee is non-refundable, as it secures your date and removes it from availability for other couples. This is standard practice and is clearly outlined before you book.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, the booking fee is non-refundable. If I ever need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, I will refund all payments made and do everything I can to help find a suitable replacement photographer.

What happens if we need to reschedule our wedding?

If you need to move your date, I’ll do my best to accommodate the new one, subject to my availability. I always recommend getting in touch as soon as possible if your plans change.

What happens if the photographer cancels?

In the unlikely event that I have to cancel, I will refund all payments in full and make every effort to help you find another professional photographer. I take every booking seriously and have backup plans in place wherever possible.

What happens if the wedding is postponed?

If your wedding is postponed, I’ll work with you to transfer your booking to the new date where possible. Any rescheduling will depend on availability and the terms in your contract.

What happens if there is bad weather on the wedding day?

Bad weather never stops me from working creatively. I’m always prepared to adapt to the conditions so you still get beautiful images, whatever the weather brings.

What happens if we run late on the wedding day?

If the day runs behind schedule, I’ll do my best to work around it and capture the most important moments. I always recommend building a little extra time into your timeline where possible.

Who owns the copyright to our wedding photos?

I retain the copyright to the images, but you receive a personal licence to print, share, and enjoy your photos for personal use. Full details are set out in the contract.

Can we print our wedding photos ourselves?

Yes, you can print your images for personal use. I’ll provide high-resolution files so you can enjoy them in whatever way suits you best.

Can we share our wedding photos on social media?

Yes, you’re welcome to share your wedding photos on social media for personal use.

Can we request changes to the contract?

If there is anything you’d like clarified before booking, I’m happy to talk it through. Once we are both happy, the contract can be signed and your date secured.

When is the final balance due?

The final balance is due 4 weeks before your wedding day. I’ll make sure the date is clearly stated in your booking details so everything is easy to follow.
